Welcome to Lucid Living...

lu·â€‹cid Ëˆlü-sÉ™d: 1. suffused with light: luminous; 2. having full use of one's faculties : sane; 3: clear to the understanding : intelligible

Are you seeking clarity? Feeling like you're at a breaking point? Or maybe just working through a little something?

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.

"Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2

Life can be hard sometimes.
It seems to be getting harder for everyone.

It seems that lately, things have been really tough for all of us, especially the last five years of our individual and collective histories.

Maybe things have been rough for you lately, too. Or maybe it's been rough for as long as you can remember.

Either way, it's important for you to know that you are not alone, and you do not have to go through life that way either.

It's okay to reach out for help. Human beings were made for one another; we were made to be in community. It's in our very wiring to need one another for connection, belonging, and healing.

Sometimes we just need a fresh perspective. Sometimes we just feel "a little off" and need to pause and regroup with the help of another person.

At other times, we need real encouragement or someone who will see us and walk with us, without judgment or shame, as we wade through life's trials, grapple with hard decisions, navigate major life transitions, process grief, or try to survive the worst moments of our lives.

Maybe you're in one of these seasons of your life right now. Maybe you've been trying to bear it alone and "be strong" for yourself and others. Maybe you are at a loss and don't know where to turn for help, or you're in despair.

The good news is this:
there is still hope.

I know that might sound like an audacious thing to say these days, but hear me out...

I know what it’s like to struggle—to fight for your life, to grow so desperate that it finally propels you forward. I've crawled out of the hole myself and now I'm extending my hand back to you, asking if you're ready to step forward.

I truly believe the only way out is through.

We are all like seeds with the potential to grow into something beautiful, if given what we need: good soil, water, sunlight, and the right environment.

Emotional, mental, and spiritual healing work the same way. If you have: (a) the desire for change and the willingness to put in the work for it; (b) the right tools and information; (c) the right guidance from someone you can both feel safe with and trust; and (d) time (healing the nervous system often requires time, like any physical injury), then as long as you're still alive, you can grow, too.

If you’re feeling unsure, anxious, or even ashamed about seeking counseling—if you’re thinking, “someone else needs this more than I do”—I invite you to reach out for a free 15‑minute consultation. It’s a chance to see if this path feels right for you and if we’d be a good fit.

There is no pressure, just an invitation...

Are you ready?

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:32

About

A little bit about me ...

First and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I believe in the healing power of a strong relationship with God. My life is devoted to serving Him through this work and in the world with dedication to my fellow human beings. It is my deepest, heartfelt desire to help you draw closer to God, if that is also something you want for yourself.

Professionally, I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) located in Norfolk, Virginia; I am also licensed in Washington state (LMHC). I specialize in and am passionately committed to helping teens and adults learn how to overcome past traumas, work through anxiety, and reclaim their lives.

I was educated at Sofia University in Palo Alto, CA, where I received both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (2014) and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology (2017).

My Therapy Style

I strive for authenticity and genuine connection, and I aim to create a therapy environment in which we can just be two human beings in a room where real moments and total honesty are welcome, where your story will not make someone cringe or shut down, and where no one is upset by your tears or ugliest moments.

As a fellow trauma survivor, I know how crucial it is to feel like you can trust the person you're opening up to about your darkest secrets and deepest pains. That is why that grounded, no pretense, judgment-free environment is incredibly important to create in session.

My primary focus is treating PTSD, complex PTSD (CPTSD), anxiety disorders, and ADHD. Over the last 9 years of active practice, I have developed a love for helping people overcome the worst things that have happened to them and turn post-traumatic stress into post-traumatic growth!

I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (and Operation Enduring Freedom) and the wife of an active duty Navy member, so I understand military life and culture on a deeply personal level. I love helping our first responders, police, military, veterans, military spouses, and dependent children (16+).
